He further stated that his government would increase the quality of life in Lagos by providing student loans, housing benefits, and a life that will set residents on the path to being truly middle class.
Rhodes-Vivour also promised to ensure that the revenue generated from transport unions goes directly to benefit workers on the highways and provide health insurance to support their welfare. He stated that his government would cut down excessive taxation and levies for market women, allowing them to appoint their own representatives as well as leaders in the market.
The LP candidate also pledged to restore the pride of Lagos culture and tradition by giving traditional rulers a firm place in his government and consulting with them on policies that affect their constituencies and jurisdictions.
He emphasised that traditional institutions would no longer serve as rubber stamps for politicians to legitimise their behaviours.
Rhodes-Vivour will contest against Babajide Sanwo-Olu, incumbent governor from the All Progressives Congress and Abdulazeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party, as well as 12 other candidates in the gubernatorial election slated for Saturday.
He stated that his government would work to ensure that civil servants have a quality of life that meets the standards of Lagos, as they cannot be expected to work and bring his vision into reality without adequate welfare.
The LP candidate assured civil servants that they have nothing to fear about losing their jobs, as his government would prioritise their welfare by reversing salaries upward and ensuring that they earn a living wage, not just a minimum wage. He promised that pension payments would be made earlier, and looted funds would be taken and put into ensuring that the quality of life of civil servants is much better.
Rhodes-Vivour emphasised that the only people who should have any cause for concern are those who have been looting the commonwealth, as his government would ensure that the monies generated benefit workers directly, rather than going up to leaders who use it without accounting for it. He called for a transparent system that benefits union members who work on buses and ensures that they have health benefits.
The LP candidate stated that his government would prioritise the welfare of market women by reducing excessive taxes and levies, allowing them to appoint their own representatives and leaders in the market, and accounting for the money they pay as levies.
He further promised to preserve Lagos traditions and bring them back to the table of power, emphasising that traditional rulers have a firm place in his government.
