The Chief Medical Director, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Prof. Kayode Olabanji, has reiterated the need for public-private partnership in ensuring effective qualitative and affordable health care service delivery.
Olabanji, who allayed fears among health care workers that PPP would bring about job loss, said rather, PPP arrangement, would be a window for job creation and boost capacities of workers in addition to efficient and qualitative service.
The Head, EKSUTH Corporate Affairs, Mrs Rolake Adewumi, in a statement on Tuesday said the CMD made the clarification during the inauguration of the Endoscopy Centre of the hospital which was instituted under a PPP arrangement with the Emzor Group of Companies.
According to her, the CMD, who lauded Emzor for the quality of the centre provided, said, “PPP is a good way to progress as it happens to many places and does not necessarily lead to job loss but increase in capacity from time to time”.
“The process of rebranding is already in progress which necessitated various turnaround activities in the hospital. We should always see EKSUTH as ‘my hospital, your hospital and our hospital’. In this way, there is a need for members of staff to avoid sabotage, but always ensure that things go on smoothly to ensure good legacies.”
The Regional Manager, Emzor Group, (Lagos and Southwest), Mr Gbenga Olafimihan, while acknowledging the warm reception received from the hospital management, said, “This marked the beginning of ‘win-win’ opportunities that are still to come.
