Manchester United’s new signing Antony has revealed that he has had talks with Cristiano Ronaldo since joining the club on deadline day.
Antony made the ideal debut for the Reds against Arsenal on Sunday after forcing a move away from Ajax to reunite with Erik ten Hag. During United's 3-1 victory at Old Trafford, the 22-year-old curled in the game's first goal past Aaron Ramsdale.
Antony would also make his Europa League debut against Real Sociedad, but his performance would be ineffective as the Reds fell to their opponents 1-0 in their inaugural matchup. The Portuguese superstar has been imparting advice to the team's new addition, the Brazilian told MUTV.
“I’ve come to help my team-mates,” Antony explained. “Regardless of age, there’s immense talent in all the players.
“Words can’t describe Cristiano, the best in the world. In just a few days, I’ve learnt a lot from him.
“He has an extraordinary mind and, whenever I talk to him, I take a lot from it. I’m sure that we have a strong attack and it’s very promising for the future.”
In his first few minutes for the Reds, United fans may have seen some similarities between Antony and a young Ronaldo. Discussing his use of skill and tricks, the former Ajax man added: “I’ve always done this.
“Not just here but for all the teams I’ve played for. I’ve been doing it ever since I was a child.
“I’ve always done it – it’s one of my characteristics. I am adapting and getting used to things here already.
“Entertaining is something I’ve always liked and I’ll continue doing it.”
