Umaru Al-Makura cautions APC not to underrate other parties
Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, a senator from Nasarawa-South, has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power against complacency in the general elections that would take place in 2019 and added that they shouldn't underestimate other political parties.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INECinsistence )'s on implementing an electronic voting system during the election, according to the former governor of Nassrawa state, would make the general elections in 2023 particularly difficult.

The legislator spoke at a recent gathering of the party's stakeholders that Governor Abdullahi Sule called at the Government House in the state capital of Lafia.

According to Almakura, the current APC must put in a lot of effort if it wants to take over at all levels of government in 2023.

“The 2023 election will not be easy, let’s not take for granted that everything is going for us. We have to get up and do the right thing, especially with the change in the electoral process.

“The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) that has gone scientific and full proof, will make us laugh at ourselves at the end of the day, if we don’t take into consideration, some of the basic things that we need to do”, Almakura declared.

The lawmaker advised the aspirants to think about and make sacrifices for the benefit of the party while pleading with governor Sule to provide a political space for some of the candidates who quit their posts and ran but were unsuccessful in the primaries.

He further pleaded with governor Sule to accept all of the contenders in order to work toward building a powerful, united APC.

“No matter how bitter we feel about the outcome of the primaries, I think it behooves upon all of us, as committed members of this party, to reconsider certain sacrifices for the general good of our party.

I will like to caution that we are at a certain stage of the political history of our party and we need a united front if we must come out victorious in 2023″.

Al-makura called on the federal and state legislators in the state to use the remaining period to deliver both stomach and physical infrastructure to their constituents, as doing so will further motivate the people to vote for the candidates of the party.
