Why Arsenal failed in pursuit of Tammy Abraham before Roma move
Tammy Abraham, a striker for Chelsea, was a target for Arsenal last summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who was discussing a recent transfer that almost occurred,

Romano cited the case of Abraham, who spent €40 million leaving Chelsea for Roma in the summer of 2021.

Romelu Lukaku was then acquired by Chelsea for €115 million from Inter, only to be loaned back to Inter a year later.

The 24-year-old Englishman was reportedly a target for Arsenal, but he chose to join Roma in order to play regular first-team games, according to Romano.

Since then, Abraham has been linked to transfers to Arsenal and Man United, and it's quite likely that he will eventually return to England at some point in his career.
