PSG confirm Marco Verratti contract extension

Marco Verratti has extended his stay in the French capital by signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the club has announced.

After moving up the Pescara levels and signing with PSG in 2012, Verratti has developed into one of the finest midfielders in history.

He became the first player to win his eighth Ligue 1 championship with the club at the end of the previous campaign, and under Christophe Galtier, he has continued to be an important part of the machine.

Verratti, 30, will stay in Paris into the autumn of his career after the club announced he had signed a contract through 2026 on their official Twitter account.

Verratti presently has 395 club appearances under his belt, which is second most in PSG history only to Jean-Marc Pilorget. The Italian midfielder might very well end up becoming their all-time appearance leader thanks to his new contract.

The announcement was made the evening before PSG played their first game after the World Cup break, taking on Strasbourg in Ligue 1. Verratti makes his 396th appearance and gets the chance to win a game as he begins in the base of the midfield with Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz.
