Two robbery suspects were fatally shot by police on Saturday in the Okokomaiko neighbourhood, according to a report from the Lagos State police command on Sunday.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesman, reportedly verified the occurrence on Sunday, according to Prime 9ja Online.
2:30 a.m. on Saturday, a gang of five armed intruders stormed into the Airtel Communication facility, according to Hundeyin, who is the DPO in charge of the Okokomaiko region.
He said that the suspects broke into the communication facility on Okokomaiko's Adisa Street, tied the on-duty guard up, and damaged five inverter batteries valued around N6 million.
Police were sent to the area as a result of the report, said Hundeyin.
When the crooks noticed the cops, they started firing at them right away. The other thieves left the scene with the stolen items and a running V/Wagen LT Bus with the licence plate BDG-924-XZ, leaving two crooks dead.
He added, “The scene was documented, and the bodies were taken to the IDH Morgue in Yaba for autopsy.”
Authorities, according to Hundeyin, are actively searching for the fugitives at large.
