2023: INC denies endorsement of Rivers PDP candidate
Ijaw Wari Worldwide, an organisation affiliated with the Ijaw National Congress (INC), endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara this weekend, prompting a number of responses.

Prime 9ja Online has learned that the INC and the Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC) have a social and political pressure organisation known as Ijaw Wari Worldwide.

At a ceremony in Port Harcourt, Rivers State’s capital, last Sunday, Ijaw Wari Worldwide, led by Chief Somina Wokoma, announced Fubara and Prof. Ngozi Ordu’s dual governorship ticket as their accepted candidate and asked Ijaw people to vote for him.

According to him, the fact that Fubara is now the PDP nominee directly responds to the need for an Ijaw governor.

But in response to this, INC Eastern Zone Chairman King Nla Iraron distanced the zone’s support for Fubara, saying that the organisation has not yet decided who to support in the upcoming election.

He claimed Wokoma’s group was an anonymous WhatsApp initiative misrepresenting itself as an Ijaw organisation to mislead and defraud the public.

Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, an Ijaw chief and elder statesman in the state, has issued an appeal for calm, claiming that the claim that the Ijaw endorse the stated Fubara is baseless propaganda.

He reassured the people, especially those of Ijaw descent, that they would receive instructions on who to vote for at the polls from the proper organisation charged with making such a statement at the appropriate time.
