Abia governor mourns as Ariaria market leader passes away

Governor of Abia State Okezie Ikpeazu was grieved to learn that Emeka Igara, who served as chairman of the Ariaria International Market in Aba, passed away on Friday.

Igara died in Aba at the age of 74.

The governor's principal press secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, released a statement on Saturday in which he expressed his sentiments.

The governor expressed astonishment at the hearing of Igara's passing and mentioned that Igara had been present at the market on Friday for the opening prayer ceremony of the 2023 market.

He started to exhibit symptoms of illness, nevertheless, and was transported to a nearby hospital by his two sons after the prayer meeting.

However, it took hours for one of his sons, Samuel Igara, to contact the governor to inform him of the passing of Ariaria International Market Chairman Igara.

“The Abia government sends our condolences to members of the Igara family, executives and traders of Ariaria International Market and all friends and associates of the Late Igara.

“We pray the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest,” he said.
