The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared yesterday that Yobe State's next general elections were likely to be won by it.
The deputy national chairman of the PDP for the North, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, made this announcement at the beginning of the party's zonal campaigns in Gashua town, Bade local government area, Yobe State, in advance of the general elections slated for 2023.
He made it clear that he thinks the PDP will win every election in the state at the event, which drew a sizable crowd of PDP supporters.
“PDP looks good here in Yobe State,” he remarked. “We have no problem. By the grace of God, we shall win our elections. We have been winning, we will win, and we shall win again.”
He thanked his associates and colleagues for their unwavering support to Yobe State, promising to do the same in return.
A former minister of police affairs and member of the Board of Trustees, Adamu Maina Waziri, declared, “I am here to support my brother, my incoming governor Hon Shariff Abdullahi and all our candidates.”
Hon Shariff Abdullahi, a candidate for governor in Yobe State, also spoke, “Let me say to the good people of Yobe North Senatorial district.
“The stakes today are high since they include the integrity of our great party, the PDP.
“My prayer is that Zone ‘C’ people will be wise once again so that they will follow all our candidates in PDP. “Vote PDP all the way,” he told the crowd.
Amb. Umar El Gash, chairman of the state party, asserted that the PDP was the preeminent party in the state and would win every election there.
In his own words, “My only message to you, I have many of you to speak here and say that Yobe is PDP and PDP in Yobe by 2023 forthcoming general elections.”
