2023 Election: Edo investigates killing of two voters
The killing of two voters in Edo state during the presidential and National Assembly elections has prompted the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to disclose that the police have commenced investigations into the matter. The deceased, Festus Idahosa, 33 and Mrs Elizabeth Owie, 43, were killed during an attack at a voting centre in the Upper Sakpoba area, Ikpoba Okha local government of Edo state.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of voters during elections in Nigeria. The governor has condemned the attack and assured citizens that the state government is working closely with the police to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The violence and loss of lives during elections are unacceptable and undermine the democratic process. It is the responsibility of the government and security agencies to provide adequate security measures to protect voters during elections. The government must take swift action to bring the perpetrators of such heinous acts to justice and prevent similar incidents from occurring in future elections.
