Elon Musk Launches xAI to Challenge OpenAI
Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has unveiled his own artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI, aiming to rival OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. Musk accuses ChatGPT of political bias and irresponsibility.

While xAI will operate separately, its technology will benefit Musk's other ventures, including Twitter. The company's website states its goal as understanding the true nature of the universe and addressing life's biggest questions.

Comprised of former researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Tesla, and the University of Toronto, xAI's team will be advised by Dan Hendrycks, leader of the Center for AI Safety.

Musk has long expressed concerns about AI, considering it a significant existential threat. He left OpenAI in 2018 due to diverging visions and profit-oriented approaches. Musk has criticized OpenAI's language models for being overly politically correct.

The launch of xAI poses significant financial challenges, particularly regarding the procurement of semiconductors (GPUs) essential for AI development, mostly produced by Nvidia.
