The program featured a variety of cultural activities, including dance performances, martial arts display, musical dramas, and other artistic expressions, giving the pupils a taste of both Chinese and Nigerian cultural heritage. The highlight of the day was the mesmerising Lion Dance performance, which ignited excitement among the pupils and garnered thunderous applause. The troupe also showcased other Chinese cultural performances, such as Waist Drum Performances, Kung Fu displays, and graceful dances performed by talented artists. In response, students from both schools presented their own cultural dances, including the Farmers Dance and Traditional Wrestling Dance.
Dr Eric Ni, Chairman of Huaxing Arts Troupe, emphasised China's commitment to supporting educational development among young children. He highlighted the power of cultural exchange in fostering understanding and unity among nations.
Dr Ni acknowledged the contributions made by the Chinese community in Nigeria's educational landscape through scholarships and various educational initiatives. He stressed the importance of cultural exchange in building bridges of understanding and friendship.
The Huaxing Arts Troupe Nigeria, primarily composed of Nigerian dancers, actively promotes cultural exchange between China and Nigeria and excels in traditional Chinese and Nigerian dance styles. They have previously collaborated with the China National Traditional Orchestra for cultural fusion events, enhancing cultural appreciation in both countries.
The students, through this cultural exchange program, had the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture without traveling to China. Additionally, the troupe generously donated funds to selected pupils and provided stationery to both schools, encouraging learning and cultural understanding.
The event received appreciation from the head teachers and school representatives present, who commended the Chinese community for their support of education and cultural exchange in Nigeria. The program was lauded as an excellent initiative that allowed pupils to interact directly with Chinese cultural heritage and gain firsthand knowledge.
