According to reports, Florence, a native of Michika LGA, consumed a substance believed to be 'Otapiyapiya' (an insecticide), which resulted in her demise.
The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nguroje, who stated that they received the report of the death on December 12.
Florence, who lived in Viniklang in Girei LGA, is said to have made the tragic decision following the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface. Boniface passed away after a brief illness while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Investigations into the matter revealed that Florence was a health worker affiliated with the Girei Primary Health Care Centre up until her death. The incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the community. The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed his regret over the tragic incident.
He urged the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands and to report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods to the police.
