In a startling incident, the official residence of Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, was invaded by security operatives on Thursday.
This occurred after Shaibu conducted his own parallel governorship primary.
Sources revealed that the security operatives stormed the residence, located at Commercial Avenue GRA Benin City, with great force.
They reportedly fired shots sporadically at Shaibu's supporters who were having their lunch at the Deputy Governor’s house. In the ensuing chaos, a Sienna vehicle carrying Hon. Sunny Okumayin was violently shot at, resulting in injuries to him.
The invasion has sparked apprehension in the public sphere, with many speculating that it was primarily designed to incriminate and tarnish the image and popularity of the Deputy Governor of Edo State. This incident is seen as part of a larger plot to harass, hassle, intimidate, persecute and distract the PDP-elected 301 delegates from 12 Local Government Areas of Edo who cast their votes in favour of Shaibu.
