In a significant development, a combined operation by the Nigeria Police and the Military has successfully rescued 16 individuals who had been kidnapped in Kogi State.
This information was disclosed by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement released to Prime 9ja Online on Monday.
SP Aya revealed that on February 25, 2024, suspected kidnappers had abducted eleven passengers from a Peace Mass Transit Bus and five others from a Sienna Bus along the Ette Enugu Ezike road. These victims were taken into the bush by their captors.
In his statement, SP Aya said, “The Joint Kogi Police and Military team from Enugu State promptly swung into action, trailed and Rescued all the victims from the bush unhurt. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects and bring them to deserved justice”.
Furthermore, SP Aya shared that the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Bethrand Onuoha, while lauding the efforts of the joint security team, reiterated the Command's unwavering commitment to maintaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal activities in the state.
Commissioner Onuoha appealed to the residents of the state to continue their collaboration with the Police and other Security Agencies. He stressed the importance of this cooperation in ensuring the adequate security of lives and property within the state.
