The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted allegations circulating online that it has deployed the 2024 Batch 'A' Stream Two Prospective Corps members from the Eastern, Southern, and Western parts of the country to the North-West. The scheme clarified that the letter making these claims, which has been circulating on social media, did not originate from its office.
The NYSC emphasised that its deployment policy is statutory and unbiased, devoid of tribal, religious, and other sentiments. It stated, “This we have successfully done in the past fifty (50) years of its existence.” The scheme urged parents, guardians, prospective corps members, and other members of the public to disregard the misleading information.
In a statement signed by Eddy Megwa, its Director of Press and Public Relations, the NYSC described the news as lacking merit, a product of the writer's imagination, and intended to cause apprehension among the corps members for the upcoming orientation exercise scheduled for April 2024.
The NYSC affirmed its commitment to maintaining the existing deployment policy for the benefit of all members of the service corps and to promote national unity and development without prejudice. It warned those spreading fake news about NYSC programmes to desist from such activities henceforth. This clarification serves to reassure prospective corps members and their families about the NYSC's commitment to fair and unbiased deployment practices.
