Nigerian Army Boosts Security with New Forward Operating Base

The Nigerian Army has commissioned a new Forward Operating Base (FOB) in response to the growing insecurity in the region. Major General Obinna Onubogu, General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Nigerian Army, inaugurated the base, stressing its importance for the security of the community.

The FOB, which began construction in 2022, boasts modern facilities, including a helipad, standby generator, industrial borehole, Medical Center, quarter guard, worship centers, and more. Governor Godwin Obaseki highlighted the necessity of the base, citing the spate of kidnapping and armed robbery in the area in 2022. He appealed to the Chief of Army Staff to establish another FOB in the Akoko-Edo axis to combat the growing insecurity.

Major General Obinna Onubogu, representing the Chief of Army Staff, assured that the Nigerian Army is ready for partnerships to improve security. He noted that the new structure has significantly reduced incidents in the area, demonstrating the Army's focus on impactful community-oriented initiatives.

Governor Obaseki and the Chief of Army Staff's representative later toured the facility, showcasing the Army's commitment to enhancing security and stability in the region.
