Davido reveals rap ambitions in Recording Academy interview

Nigerian superstar musician Davido's journey to success and self-discovery has been one of twists and turns. In a recent interview with the Recording Academy, the Afrobeats artist revealed that he had once aspired to be a rapper, emulating the style of US rapper 50 Cent and even donning G-Unit clothes.

However, a trip to Nigeria at 17 years old led him to fall in love with African music, inspiring him to switch to Afrobeats.

Davido also opened up about the impact of the pandemic on his life and career. He explained that the pandemic forced him to stay at home and gave him time to reflect on his life.

This led him to make some changes, including cutting off some people and stepping back from the world. The result, he said, was a newfound clarity about his identity and a boost to his music.

Davido also shared some details about his upcoming album "A Better Time," the follow-up to his 2019 album "A Good Time." He described the album as a continuation of a series, with each release representing a different phase of his life.

He promised fans that they would see growth on the album and confirmed that it will feature collaborations with other artists, including Nas.

Davido's journey to success serves as an inspiration to many young people who are struggling to find their path in life. His willingness to be open and vulnerable about his struggles and his process of self-discovery is a testament to his authenticity as an artist and as a person.

Fans eagerly await the release of "A Better Time," eager to see the growth and evolution of one of Nigeria's brightest musical stars.
