Rivers to sanction principals collecting illegal fees

Ahead of the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination, the Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, has said any principal caught collecting illegal levies will be sanctioned.

Ebeku gave the warning during a meeting with Zonal Directors, Rivers State representatives of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools in Port Harcourt on Monday.

“I am aware that some principals in junior secondary schools have been charging various sums of money for BECE for reasons best known to them. They have heard that the government is intolerant of corruption of any kind” he said.
