A veteran journalist, Abba Ado Gwarzo has passed away.

He was an Editor and Current Affairs Programme Producer at the Nigerian Television Authority Kano (NTA) where he started his career in 1978.

Gwarzo worked at the Hausa Service of Voice of Germany in the late 80s and early 90s.

After his retirement from NTA, the deceased joined African Independent Television (AIT).

The federal government has condoled with his wife, Sa’a Ibrahim.

She is the chairperson of Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) and the Managing Director, Abubakar Rimi Television, Kano.

In a statement on Friday, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the death was a huge loss to the journalism profession, Kano and Nigeria.

Mohammed urged Ibrahim and the family to take solace in the fact that Gwarzo left an indelible mark in the service of humanity.

The minister prayed to God to repose his soul and give all those who knew him the fortitude to bear the loss.
