Kwara United stormed back to the top of the 2021 Nigeria Professional Football League with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Warri Wolves as Kano Pillars surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 2-3 at Dakkada FC in one of the weeks 13 matches played yesterday in Uyo.

The victory by Kwara United lifted them to 25 points while Kano Pillars remained on 23 points just as Enyimba who forced Jigawa Stars to 0-0 draw in Kaduna stayed third on 23 points.

Stephen Jude put Kwara United in front as early as the 8th minute before Michael Ohanu sealed all three points for the home side in the 58th minute.

Pillars were hoping to consolidate their spot on top of the table but a superlative second-half performance by Dakkada FC saw them crashing to 2-3 defeat.

Rabiu Ali scored the opener for Pillars from the spot in the 10th minute before Gerome Henchong rose highest to head Auwalu Malam’s cross beyond goalkeeper Olawale for the ‘masu gida’ boys’ second of the afternoon.

However, in the 38th minute, Christian Ekong reduced the deficit for the hosts and Philips Archibong levelled scores in the 48th minute.

Substitute Isaac George then scored from the spot in the 76th minute to hand Dakkada the maximum points.

The other fixture in Uyo saw Akwa United sinking Rivers United 3-0 with goals from Captain Mfon Udoh (40th), Charles Atshimene (55th) and Morice Chukwu (89th) minute.

Rangers also topped the ‘oriental derby’ decided at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International stadium with an emphatic 2-0 victory over neighbours, Heartland FC Owerri.

In Makurdi, Lobi Stars returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Katsina United, Plateau United forced FC IfeanyiUbah to 0-0 in Nnewi just as Adamawa United picked a crucial point at Sunshine Stars after a goalless draw.

Abia Warriors defeated Wikki Tourists 1-0 in the first match of week 13 played on Saturday in Okigwe.

The last match of Week 13 will be played today between MFM and Nasarawa United at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.
