Even as it congratulated throngs of members on the successful conduct of the Party's State Congresses, the All Progressives Congress (APC) described reported cases of parallel Congresses held across states as futile efforts.
The party will recognize only congresses conducted by curly inaugurated State Congress Committees, according to Caretaker Committee Secretary John James Akpanudedehe.
The party also reiterated its threat to punish members who fail to carry out activities that are not in the party's best interests, claiming that the APC has heeded President Muhammadu Buhari's call to return the APC to the people.
"However, reports of so-called and purported "parallel" Congresses have caught our attention. Such "parallel" Congresses, in the words of one of our esteemed governors, are merely naming ceremonies.
"The ostensibly "parallel" Congresses are pointless and incompatible with the party, our Constitution, and the rules governing the conduct of state and other congresses.
"The Party recognizes only activities carried out by duly established State Congress Committees. The APC leadership will not hesitate to take appropriate and legal action against anyone or anything that is sabotaging the collective Party's interests and efforts to achieve peace and unity in our great party.
"Adequate conflict resolution measures have been put in place to address contestations where they exist." Every Congress, the party has an appeal committee."
