THE PUNCH, AIT, STV, OGTV, Plus TV, and PLATFORM TIMES were all denied access to the state magistrate court where the tribunal was being held.
The Chairman of the Tribunal, Rotimi Onafadeji, told the press shortly before the hearing began that recording or covering the proceedings was not permitted.
"Please, all of the press here, there is no camera recording, audio recording, or phone recording," he said. "Thank you very much."
Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, the State's Chief Judge, had inaugurated the Election Petition Tribunal for the state's most recent Local Government election a few months ago.
Dipeolu had sworn in members of two tribunal panels at the State High Court complex in Kobape, Abeokuta, to allow opposition parties to seek redress over the election's outcome.
Akintunde Oyeyinka chaired the first panel, which included Lukman Abdullahi and Olayinka Kukoyi.
Rotimi Onafadeji was also named Chairman of the second panel, with Rabiu Ibrahim and Adedoyin Alaba as members.
