In a viral video on Thursday, about five policemen were seen exchanging words with some road users.
As the argument became heightened, a police officer shot the ground twice, and another slapped a lady who was among the civilians.
In the background, a guy told the police that he shouldn’t have done what he did.
The video, however, did not show what may have led to the argument. Still, the Nigeria Police Force, in a statement on Friday, announced that the police officers involved have been arrested.
According to the statement, the policemen are being detained by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command, as the case is currently under Investigation.
The statement read, “SGT Jude Ogudu and four others spotted in the viral video assaulting a lady have been arrested by the Edo State Police Command.
“They are currently being held in the detention facilities of the State CID. The case is being investigated by the X-squad unit of the Command.”
According to the police, the incident happened at the Lagos-Benin expressway between December 13 and 15, 2021.
