In Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, a guy named Joseph Fekala, 27, brutally murdered his 26-year-old partner, Kate Ogwoh.
Fekala, who is reported to be the youth pastor of a pentecostal church in Yenagoa, is accused of killing Kate by strangling her and then interring her body in a little grave in his bedroom.
On Friday, the event took place in the Okaka neighbourhood of the city of Yenagoa.
According to information obtained, the suspect, who has been detained by the police, is accused of killing Kate in order to collect a debt of N50,000 for clothing Kate sold to him.
The deceased was a dealer in garments, according to a source who wished to remain anonymous.
She used to sell clothing, according to the source. She went to the suspect yesterday to collect the N50,000 that he owed her.
“No one heard from her until this Friday morning when her mother went looking for her at the man’s house and saw the shallow grave, that’s when she raised the alarm.
“Until her death, she was a member of Christ Embassy Church in Yenagoa while Joseph was a youth pastor in a pentecostal church. He isn’t a ‘Yahoo boy’ as being speculated in some quarters.”
The incident was confirmed by SP Asinim Butswat, spokesman for Bayelsa Police.
Butswat stated: "On July 28, 2022, Joseph Fekala, 27, of the Ikebiri community, but resident in Okaka, strangled one Kate Ogwoh, female, to death.
“The suspect was arrested following a tip off by neighbours on July 29, 2022, at about 0800 hours.
“He is being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Investigation is ongoing”
