Burundi hopes to defeat the powerful Super Falcons at the 2022 WAFCON
The Swallows must defeat the Super Falcons in order to maintain their chances of competing in the WAFCON.

The Super Falcons will compete as a team to advance to the next stage of the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, according to Falonne Nahimana, a notable player for Burundi.

On Sunday, the Super Falcons face Burundi in their final group match. Both teams' performances at the WAFCON have been uneven. Burundi has not yet earned a point, whereas Nigeria has three points from their two games.

Given the discrepancy between the two teams, a victory for the Swallows appears improbable. While Burundi is only making their maiden participation in the continent, the Super Falcons are aiming for a tenth championship.

The Super Falcons are ranked 130 places higher than Burundi. And the disparity in quality would undoubtedly be a factor.

However, Burundi star Nahimana thinks they still have a chance to shock the world when the two teams meet.

“We are going to play against a very experienced team at the WAFCON,” Nahimana told Cafonline.

“We want to go into this game(vs Nigeria) to correct our past mistakes in the two games that we have played so far and we hope to do well,”

“Tomorrow’s match is the match of my dreams to play against a great team like Nigeria is a great opportunity. For us as players, we need to go and fight as a team and do it with respect for our country.”

The Swallows are in last place in Group C. However, they still have a chance to advance if they pull off an extraordinary victory over Nigeria and South Africa defeats Botswana. Burundi would need to defeat Botswana by three goals, though, and hope for the worst.
