Cristiano Ronaldo to speak with Manchester United's management about the future
Cristiano Ronaldo will meet with Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, on Tuesday to talk about his future with the team.

The 37-year-old Portuguese forward was absent from United's preseason tour of Thailand and Australia due to personal matters. He wants to quit the club this summer.

He has returned to Manchester but has not yet trained with the team.

Ronaldo is "in our plans" and "not for sale," according to Ten Hag.

Last season, Ronaldo joined United again after spending time with Real Madrid and Juventus.

Prior to the tour, Ten Hag claimed to have spoken with Ronaldo, saying: "I had a wonderful talk. Between Cristiano and I, only. I can say with certainty that our chat was excellent.

Ronaldo skipped the club's return to preseason training at Carrington, and his absence from the tour fueled rumours about his future.

Instead, he practised at the headquarters of the Portuguese national team.

Ronaldo finished third in the Premier League and was United's top scorer last season, but the club's overall performance was viewed as a major letdown.

Ronaldo, who has one year and one extra year left on his contract with United, will play in the Europa League for the first time after United's sixth-place result in the Premier League prevented them from qualifying for the Champions League.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner does not find it particularly enjoyable and believes that at this point in his career, there may be more alluring possibilities available to him.

The midfielder had been linked to both Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich before Chelsea abandoned their pursuit of him earlier this month.

It is thought that Ronaldo is not viewed as a player who is for sale by United.

Prior to playing Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday, United play Atletico Madrid on Saturday in Norway.

On Sunday, August 7, they will host Brighton in their opening match of the new campaign.
