For the duration of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Edo State Police Command has dispatched 3,426 personnel to provide security and maintain traffic.
The Command expressed its congratulations to the Muslim faithful in a statement released on Friday by the command's deputy public relations officer, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, and asked the state's residents to carry out their legal obligations throughout the celebrations without fear.
The Edo State Police Command wishes to extend congratulations to all of its Muslim residents during this time of Eid- el-Kabir celebration, according to the statement.
"In light of the foregoing, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, has deployed 3,426 Police and traffic personnel in an effort geared at decimating crimes and criminality as well as improving the protection of lives and property during and after the celebration.
"To prevent any breakdown of law and order during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the CP has equally ordered tactical commanders, DPOs, and their supervisory area commanders in the state with stepping up security in their Area of Responsibility.
The CP has also instructed supervising Area commanders to make sure that there is an enough deployment of personnel and resources to deter crime and criminal activity and foster confidence among state people.
"The CP further charge officers and men of the Command to maintain continuous and intense patrol, stop and search, raids of crime hotspots and regions, and other anti-crime methods to ensure public safety during and after the celebration.
The statement said, "He also cautioned that staff deployed are to be professional and courteous to the members of the public."
