In order to commemorate this year's Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the federal government has designated Monday, July 11, and Tuesday, July 12, 2022 as public holidays.

Rauf Aregbesola, Nigeria's interior minister, congratulated Muslims and advised Nigerians to alert security personnel to any suspicious activity around them.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the minister made this claim.

"While wishing Muslims a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the minister urged Nigerians to take responsibility by reporting any suspicious people or criminal activity they observed nearby to law enforcement agencies using the N-Alerts application," the statement read in part. "N-Alerts has been designed to mitigate security challenges with prompt response from security agencies: as soon as you 'See Something Do N-Alerts', most especially during this festival."

But he urged Muslims across the nation to use the occasion to pray for national harmony.
