Kuje attack: Human Rights Organization requests that Aregbesola be fired
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), a civil rights organisation, has demanded that Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, be fired immediately due to the numerous jailbreaks that have occurred while he has been in office.

Emmanuel Onwubiko, the organization's national coordinator, lamented the frequent assaults on prisons around the nation in a statement.

According to Onwubiko, it is repugnant and abhorrent that more than 15 jailbreaks under Aregbesola resulted in the escape of more than 3,000 prisoners.

HURIWA also encouraged the President to take better action to ensure a stronger intelligence system in the nation by establishing a judicial panel of investigation into jail breaches and strengthening the nation's whole security infrastructure.

Onwubiko said, “The spate of jailbreaks under President Muhammadu Buhari and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, is alarming and condemnable. Even under then President Goodluck Jonathan who had no military experience or background, jailbreaks weren’t as rampant as what Nigerians see these days.

“The frequent and recurring jailbreaks show the inefficiency of all those President Buhari appointed into office and his unwillingness to sack them show also that the President tacitly want the situation to continue to fester”.

Additionally, the organisation demanded that Bashir Magashi, the defence minister, be fired for "perpetual ineptitude."
