Property worth millions of naira has been destroyed by fire in the economic heart of Anambra State, Onitsha.
An apartment building with two stories that is situated on Akunnia Street in the Woliwo neighbourhood of the commercial town was impacted by the tragedy that happened early yesterday morning.
News reporters discovered that the building's top floor was where the fire event, whose cause has not yet been determined, began.
Before the fire was extinguished by the joint efforts of occupants of the neighbouring buildings and authorities of the state fire service, it was learned that the last level of the building's residents had lost personal items valued at millions of naira.
However, it was learned that no one was hurt in the incident, the fire was put out, and it didn't spread to any of the nearby structures.
Engineer Martins Agbili, the director of the state fire department, verified the occurrence but added that the reason of the fire incident had not yet been determined. He claimed that at at 4.35 am, the fire department received a distress call regarding the fire incident, and it quickly put out the fire before it could spread to other nearby structures.
