The suspected kidney donor for Senator Ike Ekweremadu's daughter, David Nwamini Ukpo, has been found to be 21 years old and not 15 as previously believed by a Westminster Magistrates Court in the United Kingdom.
While the matter was transferred to the Central Criminal Court and postponed until August 4, Ekweremadu and his wife appeared in court on Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to the accusation of organ harvesting.
The matter will now be heard at the Central Criminal Court rather than being sent to Nigeria.
The court session was attended by a few senators and representatives from the Nigerian High Commission.
Several notable Nigerians attended the hearing, including former Senate Minority Leader Eyinnanya Abaribe, former Senate President David Mark, former Minister of State for Education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs Adamu Bulkachuwa.
