On Tuesday, the Oyo State Police Command announced the arrest of a woman who fled the state's capital, Ibadan, with a baby who was three days old.
The suspect, Itunu Adepoju, a resident of Lagos, allegedly stole a three-day-old newborn girl from her mother last week, according to the police.
Monsurat Lateef, the infant's mother, resides in the Itamerin neighbourhood of Ibadan's Ogbere Local Government Area.
Adewale Osifeso, the command's public relations officer, confirmed the suspect's arrest in a statement released on Tuesday.
He stated that the inquiry is still ongoing.
The matter would be brought before the court after the inquiry was over, he added.
