On Monday, 90 entrepreneurs in Sokoto State started receiving training on various small-scale companies for self-reliance and economic development.
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria is in charge of organising the training (SMEDAN).
The participants will receive training in modern business skills as well as knitting, catering, GSM repairs, and tailoring, according to SMEDAN's Business Development Manager, Mr. Moshud Lawal.
According to Lawal, the program's goal was to help participants improve their understanding of their individual firms and enhance their abilities in order to help them be more profitable and sustainable.
He stated that the scheme was expected to strengthen business management procedures and boost consumer spending among Nigerians.
He claims that the training is intended to give entrepreneurs empowering tools and skills to close the capacity gap for business owners.
Mashood emphasised that lack of foresight posed the biggest problem for small business owners in the Northern region of the nation.
In addition to self-confidence, business premises, the availability of raw materials, machinery, and equipment, and the necessary employees, he identified some of the characteristics that could fuel a successful business, including ideas, motivation, ability-skills, and resources, both physical and financial.
Earlier, Mr. Mu'azu Bara'u, the Business Support Manager for the Sokoto State SMEDAN, urged attendees to take advantage of the opportunity because of the importance that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) made to the country.
Bara'u reaffirmed SMEDAN's dedication to fostering MSMEs' growth in the areas of wealth generation, employment creation, and poverty alleviation.
The training was appreciated by some of the participants, including Maimuna Bello, Badiyya Nuhu, and Abdullah Ubandawaki, who said the event would improve their business development skills.
