In the Karekuka village of Taraba state's Gassol local government region, a bandit attack is said to have left at least 13 people dead.
They were not the only ones hurt.
Six local vigilantes were killed in the Friday attack, according to a source who confirmed the incident over the phone.
Six of the bandits were also killed by the vigilantes, the source said.
The informant further said that on Saturday morning, the criminals also targeted the Garin Gidado settlement but came up empty.
Prior bandit attacks on the neighbourhood had occurred.
A police official in Taraba acknowledged the attack on the village of Karekuka and stated that attempts are intensifying to return things to normal.
He stated that when investigations got underway, authorities were called to the scene to transport the bodies to a neighbouring mortuary.
