Ugo Agbalah, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Enugu State, has been 'expelled' from the organisation.
On Friday night, the beleaguered chairman's Udi/Agbudu Ward of the Udi local government area announced his expulsion from the party.
The State party chairman was suspended from the party for failing to appear before a Disciplinary Committee to respond to allegations levelled against him, according to the expulsion letter jointly signed by the Ward chairman, Mr. Aduma Ferdinand, and secretary, Mr. Onyia Francis, and made available to journalists Friday night in Enugu.
According to information obtained, Agbalah was accused of not being a registered party member at the Ward level in a petition that was made against him by a Ward member.
Other accusations include losing control of the party, which they claim may prevent them from winning elections in 2023, failing to show up to ward meetings, and not being a financial member of the party.
Recall that Agbalah is being sued in several lawsuits for allegedly not being an APC member.
When questioned, Agballah waved his hand dismissively and said that the people responsible for the expulsion were fictitious Ward executive members.
He claimed that the aforementioned ward officials were impersonators while speaking through his media adviser, Comrade Kenneth Oforma.
“The person whose signature is there as chairman is not the chairman of the Ward. The chairman of the Ward is Chinedu Ezeago.
“The wording of illiterate and non-party members. They have suspended, debarred, expelled all in same breath. No disciplinary committee hearing, not even presence of one,” Oforma stated.
