335 retired primary school teachers in Akwa Ibom State received entitlement payments totaling over one billion Naira ($1 billion) from the state government.
Last week, at the conclusion of the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Udom Emmanuel, at the Executive Council Chamber of Government House, Uyo, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, made this announcement to reporters.
The N1 billion released as entitlements for primary school teachers, according to a report given by the head of the civil service, Elder Effiong Essien, has been paid to the beneficiaries, which include 123 living and retired teachers, 180 members of the retired teachers' next-of-kin, and 32 vulnerable individuals.
He continued by saying that the Council had ordered the Ministries of Health and Information and Strategy to release PSAs regarding the COVID-19 outbreak in the state.
The state government has begun implementing strategies to guarantee smooth elections in the state in 2023.
In order to achieve this goal, the administration is working with Man O War to make sure that the state records peaceful elections.
When the executive members of the Nigerian Man O'War organization's Akwa Ibom State Chapter paid him a courtesy visit in Uyo, Ini Ememobong said this.
Ini Ememobong expressed the government's willingness to work with Man O'War because the organization's goal was in line with the peaceful nature of the Akwa Ibom state population. She praised the organisation for its foresight in starting to educate the public about violence-free electioneering campaigns.
The State Information Director, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Akparawa James Edet, stated that the Ministry was central to the dissemination of government jingles and slogans that promoted peace and security, particularly during election campaigns. He also expressed gratitude to Man O' War for embracing the important cause of campaigning against election violence.
Comrade Emmanuel Ibiok, the State Commander of Man O' War Nigeria, had earlier stated that the organisation aimed to impart leadership principles for the mobilisation of young for positive attitudinal change at the grassroots as a viable and effective force for the promotion of responsible citizenship.
