The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that in contrast to using merely propaganda throughout its campaign for the 2023 elections, it will be open-minded and sincere.
This was said by Mallam Salihu Moh Lukman, the party's national vice chairman for the northwest, who also praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party's presidential candidate, for being more reliable than other significant rivals.
Lukman revealed how the APC planned to promote and persuade Nigerians to vote for its presidential candidate in 2023 when he spoke with journalists yesterday.
He said, “Life is about challenges. Those challenges exist, no doubt about it. But I think my response to it is that we will be honest, and we will open ourselves to engagement because democracy is a two-thing.
“Many of the deceptive propaganda being sponsored by the opposition against APC is that the solution to the problem lies outside APC. Let nobody be deceived that APC is the problem. Yes, there are challenges that we are facing today which emerged while APC is in government. My pride is that our leaders are not in denial of those challenges unlike in the past. If you look at candidates of other parties, they are not coming up with recommendations, they are coming up with propaganda to shoot down APC and Nigerians should be smarter than that”.
In addition to asserting that Tinubu is not a "election merchant" like the candidates of other well-known opposition parties, the former director general of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) also stated that the APC was prepared to engage in debates with opposition parties when the 2023 elections campaigning gets underway.
To win in 2023, he added, the APC must assess the promises it made to Nigerians between 2015 and 2019 and consider the gaps that still remain as well as what has to be done to close them.
He contends that the APC must organise its campaign in such a way that Nigerians can see solutions to these problems and make them a priority.
He noted, “I raised the point of the APC presidential candidate not being on the ballot since 2003 on a positive note, to demonstrate that he is not one of those I called election merchants.
