Media reports armed robbers broke into the home of Barcelona striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang early Monday morning and physically assaulted the player and his wife while forcing them to open a safe to steal jewelry.

According to the Spanish newspaper El Pais, both the player and his wife, Alysha Behague, suffered minor injuries. Aubameyang, 33, has not confirmed the robbery's details.

It is the second time in two months that Aubameyang's home in Castelldefels, a suburb in Barcelona's Metropolitan Area, has been burgled, although the player and his family were not present during the first break-in, according to police.

Four hooded men broke into his home on Monday and threatened the player and his family with firearms. They assaulted Aubameyang and his wife, forcing them to open a safe and steal jewelry.

It is not the first time that Europe's top players have been robbed. Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo was assaulted at his home in England in December, and Benfica defender Nicolas Otamendi was robbed at his home in Portugal.
