Sixteen people were killed and five others were injured in a road accident in Lagos State's Epe area.
In the early hours of Tuesday, two vehicles collided along Alaro City, Epe, killing 23 male adults.
Prime9jaOnlineMedia gathered that 16 people died, five were critically injured, and two were not injured at all.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Command, confirmed the accident and stated that it occurred at 03:00 a.m. and was caused by impaired visibility due to reckless driving.
Olabisi Sonusi, the command's FRSC Public Education Officer, issued a statement saying that the five injured victims had been hospitalized.
"The vehicles involved in the crash were a white bus with registration number KTN 262YJ and an articulated truck with registration number unknown," according to the statement.
"FRSC operatives and other emergency management agencies are on the ground, ensuring that all crashed vehicles are recovered and evacuated as soon as possible."
"As a result, the Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Lagos Sector Command Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide advised motorists to avoid nighttime travel due to impaired visibility at that hour."
"He also reminded motorists to always obey construction signage and speed limits in such zones."
"Ogungbemide is also using this medium to express condolences to the families of the deceased and to wish the injured a speedy recovery."
