On Wednesday, the Wamakko local government area in Sokoto State received projects valued more over N275 million from the cement producer BUA.
As part of the company's annual corporate social responsibility, the projects comprised a fully equipped clinic, a school, a mosque, and 170 tonnes of BUA cement that were distributed to 68 communities in the local government.
Yusuf Binji, the managing director of BUA Cement, said in a statement before presenting the projects to the host communities that the new facilities were given to communities that had been displaced as a result of the company's operations.
Mr. Binji, who was represented by Altine Wali, director of human resources at BUA, claimed that the business had made restitution to the residents of the Gidan Boka community whose lands had been utilised for the company's operations.
Sada Suleiman, the head of administration and corporate services at BUA Cement, claimed that in addition to the items it gave to the villages, the company had also built roads, created cemeteries, and given water and electricity to its host communities.
In addition to providing medications, scholarships, and educational materials, BUA Cement has reportedly continued to ensure regular distribution of cement to host communities for the repair of mosques and other infrastructure.
Mr. Sada emphasised that the company had a friendly connection with the administration of Sokoto State and all the host villages and noted that their projects were intended to support the government's initiatives to enhance the living conditions of state inhabitants.
Vice Chairman of Wamakko Local Government Garba Muhammad responded on behalf of the beneficiaries and praised the business for its varied efforts.
