Qudus Tijani, an unemployed man, was sentenced to be detained in custody on Thursday by an Iyaganku Magistrates' Court in Ibadan for an alleged armed robbery.
Tijani, whose home location was not given, was accused by the police of conspiring, armed robbery, breaking and entering, and theft.
The Magistrate, Mrs. I. O. Osho, rejected Tijjani's argument that she lacked jurisdiction.
She gave the police the go-ahead to deliver the case file back to the DPP for legal counsel.
The case was put on hold until October 10 for mention.
Earlier, ASP Foluke Adedosu, the prosecution's attorney, informed the court that Tijani committed the crime on May 22 at around one in the morning at the Alapata community of the Apete neighbourhood of Ibadan.
She claimed that Ademola Adedoyin was robbed of his phones valued N737, 500 by Tijani and other fugitives who were armed with pistols and other hazardous weapons.
Adedosu claimed the accused also took liquor worth N157, 000 that belonged to Morufu Adepoju.
Adedosu claimed that Tijani also illegally broke into Pastor Kunle Oluwaseyi's church auditorium on June 1 in the Apete neighbourhood.
She claimed that the defendant took an Oluwaseyi-owned generating set worth N140 000, a light holder for N10,000, and other precious goods.
The prosecution claimed that the offence was in violation of sections 6(B), I (2), 414, 416, and 390(9) of the Oyo State Criminal Laws of 2000 as well as the Robbery and Firearms Laws of 2004.
