The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) Kano Zonal Command has detained Gazali Ado, a 35-year-old impostor who pretended to be an EFCC agent on Google Maps.
He was detained as a result of a petition filed by Kenneth Nwarize, who claimed the suspect conned him out of N150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand naira only) while pretending to be a member of the Commission.
The petitioner said that while looking for the EFCC on Google to file a complaint, he came across the suspect's phone number (+2348115177852). When the petitioner phoned the number, the suspect allegedly conned him into sending N150,000 to Ibrahim Mohammed's bank account.
Gazali was arrested alongside two others, Sanusi Abubakar Liman and Ibrahim Mohammed.
The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
The Commission invites members of the public who might have been defrauded through the above-stated number to come forward with information.
