Prof. Charles Quaker Dokubo, a former Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, has died.

Dokubo reportedly died on Wednesday night in an Abuja hospital.

When contacted, a reliable source from the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs confirmed the death on the condition of anonymity.

He was seventy years old.

On March 23, 1952, the professor of strategy was born in Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government, Rivers State.

He attended primary and secondary school in Abonnema before attending Huddersfield Technical College in West Yorkshire for his 'A' levels.

In the late 1970s, Dokubo was admitted to the University of Teesside in Middlesbrough, where he studied modern history and politics. He received a BA [Hons.].

He also held master's and doctoral degrees in Peace Studies and Nuclear Weapon Proliferation and Control.

In 2018, he was appointed as the coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme after his predecessor, Paul Boroh, was removed due to corruption allegations.

Dokubo previously worked as a Director at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).

President Muhammadu Buhari suspended him in February 2020 due to corruption allegations.
