Chris Danjuma, the coach of the Falconets, has unveiled the team for the U-20 Women's World Cup, which will begin in Costa Rica next week.
The majority of the team, according to a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), are players who competed for their nation in the competition's qualification rounds.
Captain Oluwatosin Demehin and 20 other people are among them. Three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and six strikers make up the Costa Rican team.
In order to qualify for the competition in Costa Rica, the Falconets, who left for that country on Thursday, overcame the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Cameroon, and Senegal, winning six of seven matches (they only drew with Cameroon in Douala).
Nigeria, who finished second in the 2014 competition, is in Group C of the 16-nation competition, which gets underway on August 10. Its groupmates are France, Canada, and the Korea Republic.
On Friday, August 12, they will play their first game against the French women, followed by matches against the Asians and Canada.
Ghana, the other representative of Africa, will compete in Group D alongside Cup holders Japan, The Netherlands, and the United States of America.
Germany will compete against Colombia, New Zealand, and Mexico in Group B. Germany has won the competition three times, most recently in 2010 and 2014 when they defeated Nigeria in the championship game.
All group phase and quarter-final games will be played at the Alejandro Morera Soto, which is a hybrid of natural and synthetic grass, called stitched grass. The semi-final, final and third place matches will hold at the Estadio Nacional.
