In response to the recent change in the Federal Road Safety Corps' leadership, Dauda Ali Biu, the Acting Corps Marshal, has charged Commanding Officers across the board to warn Operatives under their control against impoliteness, patrol misconduct, and unprofessional behaviour in the performance of their duties. His appointment by President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari GCFR took effect on July 24, 2022.
The accusation was made on Thursday at his first online meeting with the Corps' zonal commanding officers.
The Acting Corps Marshal gave the Commanding Officers instructions at the meeting to boost surveillance on all operational fronts, increase monitoring and supervision of Operatives, and—most importantly—constantly engage Staff in continuous value reorientation.
Additionally, he specifically ordered the 12 Zonal Commanding Officers to visit component commands within their spheres of influence as soon as as to assess their immediate needs and difficulties and to report back to the national headquarters for prompt action.
He cautioned against all forms of extortion, bribery and corruption and any kind of misconduct by patrol men stating that the FRSC Management will not tolerate incivility towards members of the public, as well as any unprofessional conduct that will bring disrepute to the image of the Corps.
While speaking on the need for more visibility, he emphasized that field operations must be intelligence driven, and Personnel must be aware and understand the peculiar challenges within their general operation areas and adjust operational activities to boost intelligence gathering.
The Acting Corps Marshal ended his charge by further directing the immediate reawakening of field operations for greater productivity putting into consideration, the expectations of Nigerians especially the motoring public on the Corps delivery on its mandate.
