FRSC to arrest, prosecute motorists over assault on personnel
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has committed to detain and prosecute drivers who assault or molestate its officials or men without provocation.

The Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger, Assistant Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, spoke to reporters on Friday in Abuja.

Mohammed claimed that many drivers disregard the decency of the unarmed workers who have been taught to exercise caution while carrying out their legal responsibilities.

He said it was concerning how frequently traffic safety professionals were killed while engaged in patrol activities, and that it was far worse when they were in charge of the flow of traffic.

Citing a recent incident at Sabon-Lugbe in FCT, the commander denounced motorists' constant attacks on and knockdowns of traffic marshals.

“I want to call on the drivers and the motoring public to know that FRSC personnel will not support such, “he said.

He said that the corps would ensure that motorists who assault its personnel are prosecuted accordingly.

Mohammed advised road users to comply with traffic rules and regulations to avoid crashes as FRSC would continue to ensure zero tolerance for road crashes.
