General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, has visited soldiers who were impacted by a recent fire tragedy at 301 Artillery Regiment in Gombe.
Maj. Ishaku Takwa, the Division's acting deputy director of army public relations, made this remark on Thursday in Jos.
The GOC, who doubles as the Commander, of Operation Safe Haven, described the fire incident as ”unfortunate” and commended the barrack community for ensuring that no life was lost in the incident.
He pledged to quickly relocate those impacted and offer suitable housing inside the barrack.
Ali expressed sympathy to the affected soldiers' families and gave them money to lessen the impact of the tragedy.
The GOC was commended by Col. John Mbanefo, Commander of the 301 Artillery Regiment, for his visit and assistance to the fire victims.
He claimed that the act will restore the troops' and their dependents' faith in the Nigerian Army's capacity to care for their needs.
The GOC also paid a visit to the 33 Artillery Brigade in Bauchi and the Operation Safe Corridor Deradicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration Camp in Malam Sidi, Gombe state.
