One of Nigeria's greatest football exporters in history is contributing a little to the city where his parents were born.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, has disclosed that Real Madrid defender David Alaba has contributed to a charitable endeavour in the nation.

Madam Dabiri-Erewa claims that the former icon of Bayern Munich will unveil the unnamed enterprise very soon.

Alaba seems to be making an effort to get back in touch with his roots after experiencing extraordinary success in Europe.

David Olatukunbo Alaba, a Nigerian-born Austrian citizen who turned 30 years old this year, is recognised as one of his generation's top defenders.

Alaba was born and raised in Austria and represented it at the youth level, although he wasn't able to join the Super Eagles until October 2009.

Alaba made his national team debut for Austria against France, becoming their youngest player in history.

Alaba led Austria to its first-ever appearance in the competition's knockout rounds while serving as the nation's captain during the UEFA Euro 2020.

Before moving to Real Madrid in 2021, Alaba, arguably the most successful Austrian-Nigerian player ever, won 27 awards, including two UEFA Champions Leagues and two Bundesliga championships with Bayern Munich.

The defender was instrumental in the Spanish giants' 2021–22 La Liga, Supercopa, and Champions League victories during his first season in Madrid.

Alaba scored Real Madrid's opening goal on Wednesday night as they defeated Europa League champion Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 to win the UEFA Super Cup.
